Thirsting for the Presence of Christ

Devotions Week 36:

All Negativity is caused by an accumulation of psychological time and denial of the present. Unease, anxiety, tension, stress, worry – all forms fear – are caused by too much future, and not enough presence. Guilt, regret, resentment, grievances, sadness, bitterness, and all forms of non-forgiveness are caused by too much past, and not enough presence. ~ Eckhart Tolle

The Rock of my salvation. Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Psalm 62:5-6
(read 62:1-8)
Led by the Spirit of God. The Spirit Himself testifies with our Spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. Romans 8:16-17
(read 8:9-17)
In God’s Timing. But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:4-6
(read 4:1-7)
God’s invitation to the thirsty. “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Isaiah 55:1
(read 55:1-11)
Christ is the source of Living water. [Our forefathers] were all baptised into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:2-4
(read 10:1-13)
Jesus invited the thirsty to life-giving, living water. Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
(read 4:1-14)
The river of life. Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1-2
(read 22:1-7)

In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song.
This Cornerstone this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace. When fears are stilled, when strivings cease.
My comforter, my all in all. Here in the love of Christ I stand.
