The Daily Act of Dying to Self

Devotions Week 25:

If our common life is not a common course of humility, self-denial, renunciation of the world, poverty of spirit and heavenly affection, we do not live the lives of Christians. ~ William Law

The way to forgiveness. Finally, I confessed all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Psalm 32:5
Follow Christ. The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee, finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow Me.” John 1:43
Let Him have all of you. Then He said to them all; “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.” Luke 9: 23-24
The way of salvation. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
Seeking His will and being changed by it. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
Dead to sin, alive in Christ. Thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:17-18
Peace and joy with God. …We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. Romans 5:3-5

Seems like so long ago upon a rugged Cross,
Jesus the Lamb of God was crucified for us.
The ransom there was paid to set the sinner free
And His blood still cries mercy over me.
Mercy, mercy, mercy His blood still cries mercy over me.
