The Alpha and Omega

Devotions Week 11:

Out of God we have all come, in Him we are all enfolded and towards Him we are all journeying. ~ Julian of Norwich

The Source of life. …Christ holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it. Colossians 2:19
(read 2:16-23)
Jesus our Redeemer. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him who is true by being in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20
(read 5:13-21)
From death to life. “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24
(read 5:18-29)
He bore our sins. “He himself bore our sins” in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
(read 2:18-25)
The name of Jesus. “It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed… Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:10, 12
(read 4:8-12)
Work, for night is coming. “As long as it is day, we must do the work of Him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5
(read 9:1-12)
Our example of love. “Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” John 13:14-15
(read 13:1-17)

O for a heart to praise my God, a heart from sin set free,
A heart that always feels Thy blood so freely shed for me:
A heart resigned, submissive, meek, my great Redeemers throne,
Where only Christ is heard to speak, where Jesus reigns alone.
A humble, lowly, contrite heart, believing, true, and clean,
Which neither life nor death can part from Him who dwells within:
A heart in every thought renewed, and full of love divine,
Perfect, and right, and pure and good a copy Lord of Thine.
Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart: come quickly from above,
Write Thy new name upon my heart, Thy new, best name of love.
