Obedience

How would you respond if God asked you to do something but then at the same time told you that you wouldn’t succeed in doing it? Would you still do it? It’s a challenging question, yet you may be thinking, “Of course I would, God asked me to do it.” But consider how often we don’t do what God asks of us when there is the possibility of failure, let alone a guarantee. We can ask the question, when God asks us to do something what is He looking for? What does He value in our response? Is it the results? Is He impressed with our success? Or is obedience what matters most to Him?

The HOW of Salvation

In Acts 16:29-30, Paul and Silas were asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” It is important for us to know and be able to explain to anyone who asks us, how we are saved. In understanding how we are saved it is helpful to use the roadmap statement: "THE GOSPEL SAVES ME IN AN INSTANT AND CHANGES ME GRADUALLY."

Life in the Holy Spirit

Being filled with joy by the river of hope that overflows in the freedom to love, all to the glory of God, this is what it means to be filled with the Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit is to open our eyes to the amazing implications of the love of God for our future, thus filling us with hope. Since joy and love flow from hope, it makes sense that love and joy are fruit of the Spirit. And so, there are two ways to describe the key to the treasure of Christian life: 1) To abound in hope which gives fullness of joy, overflowing in love, to the glory of God and 2) To be filled with the Holy Spirit.
