Called to be Ambassadors of Christ

Devotions Week 9:

This is the true joy of live; the being used for a purpose recognised by yourself as a mighty one, being a force of nature rather than a feverish, selfish, little cloud of ailments complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. ~ George Bernard Shaw

Being Christ’s ambassadors.
…We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we may become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:20-21

G
od’s promises fulfilled through Christ.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20

God’s promise to those who truly believe.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
Psalm 46:1-2

Slaves to righteousness.
Don’t you know that …you are slaves to the one you obey – whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? …You have been set free from sin and become slaves to righteousness.
Romans 6:16, 18

Our wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption.
It is because of God that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
1 Corinthians 1:30

God’s love for us.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

Faith, hope and love. …We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.
Romans 5:4-5

Holy Spirit, ever living as the church’s very life;
Holy Spirit, ever striving through her in a ceaseless strife;
Holy Spirit, ever forming in the church the mind of Christ
You we praise with endless worship for your fruit and gifts unpriced.
